This event is hosted in conjunction with the Center for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics (CMMT) and the Canada Gairdner Foundation, recognizing the world’s most creative and accomplished biomedical scientists who are advancing humanity and the world.
I also have the same question. It’s difficult to get high schoolers to Vancouver especially with working parents when it’s not the weekend. Will this/a similar forum be offered on a weekend at some point? It seems like a really fabulous opportunity.
Hi Mark,
Unfortunately, we do not have any Gairdner-related sessions for students on the weekend at the moment. The lectures will be recorded and the video can be found on our webpage after the event.
Please feel free to contact me at jshum@cmmt.ubc.ca if you require further information.
I am wondering Oct 21, Monday is a normal school day, how can a grade 10-12 student attend this event without taking a leave from school?
Hello Lynn,
Each student will need to have a sponsor teacher and arrange for this leave/time from school with their teachers. In the past, teachers have been very supportive of this event. We are offering this symposium virtually in addition to in-person (without the lab tours). The lectures will also be recorded and will be posted on our website after the event.
Please feel free to contact me at jshum@cmmt.ubc.ca if you require further information.
