Jessica Dawson

Postdoctoral Fellow

Jessica is an early career Medical Scientist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Human Genetics with a keen interest in exploring modifiers of neurodegenerative disease and genetic diversity. Jessica’s research has focused on the allele sequence diversity and genetic modifiers of Huntington disease and its phenocopy Huntington disease-like 2 in an understudied population. Jessica has experience in both a diagnostic laboratory setting as a registered Medical Scientist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and an academic setting as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) and the University of British Columbia (UBC). This diverse experience has allowed for the development of a wide range of laboratory and research skills.
