Mouse Embryonic Fibroblasts

One of the many services that MAPS provides is generating mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) from your desired strain.

MEFs can be an incredibly useful in vitro tool. For example, having fibroblasts made from your own transgenic strain, on your genetic background, may be ideal for optimizing CRISPR/Cas9 reactions. MEFs are also a cost effective way to run many biochemical experiments. Overall, using MEFs may reduce the use of mice, in keeping with the three R’s of animal research.

MAPS is a start-to-finish service, helping with importation of mice, undertaking all mouse and tissue culture work. Depending on your project’s needs, we can produce otherwise identical lines of MEFs with different genotypes (e.g. wild type, heterozygous, homozygous).
