Mouse Animal Production

The primary role of the Mouse Animal Production Service (MAPS) is to support investigators in using genetically modified mouse models. The staff of MAPS are available to provide transgenic and knock-out mouse services as well as to provide general advice on the use and management of such mice. MAPS can assist you with generating transgenic mice by pronuclear microinjection into zygotes and genetically engineered mice by microinjection of ES cells into blastocyst stage embryos. Gene editing can be performed using CRISPR/Cas9-mediated approach.

We offer services to secure your valuable strains by cryopreservation of sperm and we can resurrect these lines using in vitro fertilization. Additional services include chimera breeding, colony management, timed pregnancies, pseudopregnant females, vasectomized males, mouse embryonic fibroblasts, ES cells of various genetic background, and ICR, 129, and C57BL/6J mice.

MAPS has generated many unique lines of mice, and its additional services are always evolving with the needs of its users as well as with advances in transgenic techniques.
